Review of Hacienda Doka’s Costa Rica coffee tour, with plantation walks, coffee processing, tastings, butterflies, price, timing, and practical tips.

“The tour was excellent and informative. It was pretty much what you would assume. Overall, it takes about 1 hour to 1.5 hours. You are invited to stay after the tour and walk the grounds for photos or to see the butterfly exhibit. Definitely stop to see the butterflies. It's a definite highlight of the tour.”

Review of a Poás Volcano, Costa Rican coffee, and waterfall day trip from San José, with practical advice on timing, value, weather, and stops.

“The pick up was on time. That is where the good points stop. The van was very dirty, and none of the seat belts works despite the driver saying they did. One other person was picked up and we headed to the Starbucks plantation. We arrived an hour and half ahead of our scheduled tour time. So the driver suggested we get a coffee which we waited almost half an hour for. The next tour was in Spanish so the driver suggested we drive around for an hour until our tour time. He got lost on the way back and had to drive recklessly to get us back to Starbucks…”

We went horseback riding to a waterfall, passing through coffee fields, forests, and a village. Afterward, we returned to a charming farmer’s house for a quick snack, along with coffee / hot chocolate. The farmhouse is authentically Costa Rican, filled with character and charm, and beautifully designed with many unique pieces of furniture and art.”

★★★★★★★★★★4.5 · 35 reviews · 10 hours (approx.) · from $184

Review of the Doka Coffee, Poás Volcano, and La Paz Waterfall tour from San José, with food, timing, guides, value, and practical tips.

“The guide was kind and shared interesting stories, the driver was also responsible and did a good job. Our main concern was the structure of the tour: the main highlight was supposed to be Poas Volcano, but this is the place where we spent the least amount of time. Moreover, we went there in the late morning, where the weather notoriously turns worse, and as a result we could not see anything. Instead, we spent the first (very sunny) hours of the tour in the Doka hacienda. I suggest adapting the schedule of the tour to the weather conditions when appropriate, as Poas is the main attraction tourists are there…”
